Acupuncture and moxibustion therapies form part of Traditional Chinese Medicine which has been practised in China for several thousand years. Acupuncture procedure uses fine filiform needles to activate the acupuncture points along the different meridian energy channels in our body. Ancient Chinese acupuncturists believe that when the qi flows smoothly along these meridian channels, diseases and sicknesses will have a hard time attacking us. We will enjoy good health and a long life.
Moxibustion is like a twin brother to acupuncture. While acupuncture uses fine needles to activate the qi or energy flow in our body, moxibustion uses herbal leaves (by burning it) to generate warmth on the acupuncture points. Traditional Chinese herbology emphasizes on balancing the body’s yin and yang, and moxibustion usually produces a warming effects on patients who have an imbalance inclined towards cold.
